  1. NOTES FOR THE VOICE DIGITIZER CIRCUIT

  4. 1. If you don't already have it, get the SNDEXPLN file from 
  5. the BBS.  READ THE DOCS!
  6. 2. The author left out some important parts of the circuit 
  7. in the schematic, so use the one in this file.
  8. 3. You can only print this schematic on an EPSON-compatible
  9. printer.
  10. 4. I used batteries to power this circuit. It requires 12V,
  11. which means 8 AA batteries.  You could also use a 12V power
  12. supply, but it has to be **QUIET**.  I think the batteries
  13. are easier.  Since the circuit will only be on for a short
  14. time, they should last just about forever.
  15. 5.  Wire this circuit carefully and don't screw up any of 
  16. the connections.  Take your time.
  17. 6. Wiring layout isn't critical.  You should see my sloppy 
  18. circuit board.
  19. 7. All parts are available at MidState Electronics on 
  20. Monterey St.  You can save a little by buying the Mic at 
  21. Radio Shack, though.
  22. 8.  Cost for the electronic components should run about $15,
  23. but the cabinet and other hardware bring the price up.  For 
  24. resistors and capacitors, go to the counter and just buy 
  25. what you need. Avoid the packaged goods.
  26. 9.  USE SOCKETS FOR THE ICs!
  27. 10. Observe polarities on the electrolytic capacitors.

  31. If you have a DB-25 connector on your serial port, the pins 
  32. for this circuit are:

  43. FINAL NOTE:

  45. When you first try this circuit, don't be surprised if it doesn't work.  
  46. The adjustment of the 50K pot is critical.  For me, it worked almost 
  47. exactly in the center of the pot's travel.  Experiment!

  49. Remember, you need the programs in the file SNDEXPLN.ARC to make this work.
